"Building Blocks" – an introduction to ear training and essential music theory
- Sight singing is sight hearing! Learn to hear accurately before you sing.
- A holistic approach – music theory and ear training are interlocked.
- Learn the basics of staff notation, key signatures and rhythms.
- For anyone used to singing only by rote (even if you can read on an instrument)
- Or anyone whose reading and/or theory knowledge is patchy or unreliable
"Level Up" – practice, problem solving and more advanced training

- Practical applications of your music theory knowledge
- Demystify accidentals and tricky intervals.
- Develop your inner hearing and musical memory.
- An edifying exploration of repertoire from Bach to Bartók – and your requests

ABOUT THE TEACHER
Active as a teacher and composer in the San Francisco Bay Area, Michael Kaulkin holds a Master of Music degree in Composition from the S.F. Conservatory, and previously studied at the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, Hungary. He is on the Musicianship and Composition faculty of the S.F. Conservatory’s Pre-College Division and has served on the faculties of the Crowden School, at Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA) and the Academy of Art University. An avid adopter and adapter of the Kodály Method in teaching Musicianship, he has also served on the faculties of summer Kodály programs at Holy Names and Portland State Universities.
